i am proud to be an unaffiliated american

yesterday was voting for primaries here. i was berated by a friend at lunch today for not voting; he went on to excoriate my lack of voter involvement. i responded that if i remember correctly, you can only vote in the primaries of the party you are affiliated with. oh yeah, i couldn't have voted anyway. of course, the retort was i still wouldn't have voted anyway. hmm... last time i checked, i served to protect your right to vote... i sound bitter, but i'm not, i just didn't understand why i was in the cross-hairs unless it was a vague attempt at humor.

on another note, i got a call from a good friend to let me know that one of my former best friends who i haven't spoken to since graduation just had his little brother die. the funeral was today. i'm going to call him tomorrow; we haven't spoken in 6 years.

keep thinking about that. no more writing for now.
